data viz #2 - UN Sustainable Development Goal 14DEC 2024
A data visualization project involving extensive research into the UN Sustainable Development Goal 14: Life Below Water. The objective of this project was to learn how to gather and analyze data as well as other research materials. The first deliverable was magazine spreads reflecting the results and conclusion from the research and data analysis process. We were encouraged to explore the balance between art directions, aesthetics with that of legibility and information organization. The second deliverable was to create a campaign project to promote the value of this goal to the selected audience. I decided to design a calendar with information about sustainable fishing and consumption habits. Utilizing OCAD University’s rapid prototyping center and its resources, I designed and created a wooden fish calendar backing with magnets adhered to the backside of the wooden fish. The calendar is printed on uncoated craft paper with a laser printer, hence mimicking that of riso prints.
